I have been into photography now for a number of years. My main genre of photography is nature and natural history. This type of photography takes an immense amount patience and skill to get the shots, so I am a very patient person and I have a very critical eye with attention to the minutest detail.
I also teach photography, and run workshops with my birds of prey, macro work (frogs, preying mantis, lizards, harvest mice etc), specializing in the use of flash in a studio environment with the macro subjects and occasionally with my owls.
I now have my own purpose built studio, with numerous props and lighting etc.
I love taking images that can tell a story and try and produce only quality images, not quantity.
I am a member of a local camera club that we have just set up in the Wigan area and enter competitions in the UK and all over the world, so always on the look out for interesting ideas for something new and exciting to enter into these competitions. As you can imagine the images have to be top quality and I have won numerous awards for my images so far.
My work ethic is to really plan a shoot down to the small details. I like a fun and chilled out shoot with the model and myself relaxed, as i feel that the images produced are much better, you can always tell in the eyes. I don't push levels and always show each image as I take them so we can then build on the shot to get the best we can.
I do prefer to work on a TFP basis so that we can both work on images that we both want for our portfolios.
If you would like to work with me feel free to contact me.
Kind Regards
Mike
