Knowing Your Body Type
Getting to know your body type is hugely important before you go out and pick the perfect dress from the amazing range at Ax Paris. For example, do you have larger hips than the rest of your body? If so, you’re known as ‘pear-shaped’. If you carry the most weight around your middle, you’re ‘apple-shaped’. Although these names don’t really matter and you can rename them whatever you feel more comfortable with, it helps to know for when you’re looking at sizing guides for body types and the likes. Knowing your body and accepting it the way it is – that’s what you need to do first and foremost before you go out and find that killer dress.
Choosing a Dress Style
When looking at dresses, choose a style that is best for your body type rather than just because it follows different fashion trends. Fashion trends can be great, but if they’re completely wrong for your body type, they just won’t look good on you and could leave you feeling disheartened and even upset. For example, if you’re heavy up top, you’re probably going to make your chest look even larger by wearing a high-necked, tightly fitting dress. Instead, choosing a dress with a scoop or V-neckline can balance out your appearance, accentuating your assets. Another example would be if you have larger arms – wearing a strapless dress may make you feel self-conscious, so choosing dresses with longer sleeves or bell sleeves can be a great alternative that looks even better.
Choosing Quality
It might be tempting to save some money and buy cheap clothing, but if you have a special event coming up such as a wedding or an important function that you need to buy a dress for, it’s better to pay more for high-quality clothing which fits well. Well-made clothing automatically fits better than poorly-made clothing, and could even be better value for money as they’ll last you longer and you’ll be able to wear them again and again without them losing their shape or quality. Although cut-price clothing can be great for everyday wear, splashing out a little on something for a special occasion is the best choice. If you’re on a budget, there are plenty of ways to get bargain quality clothing, such as searching for second-hand.
