Hi Im On My Way BackHi Fabiano, Glad to hear you're on the mend, good to have you back - and I agree with Nixie, some great new shots ;) James Upgrade ....If only i couldHi, I've heard that PayPal has a limit to the amount of times you can purchase through them using the "guest account" option. We do of course have an alternative because of this, which The new site header - feedback?[quote=Bluephin]Like the header but when on your control panle you can not log out as the new drop down means the logout tab is behind the rolling text that wonders across the screen. [/quote=17] Oops, ok I've Under 18s and the lawHi Dave, I removed your comment but I hadn't got round to messaging you about the removal yet. The comment was removed because the photo comments section wasn't, and isn't, the place to air an opinion about Editing info on profileJust to update - this issue has now been solved. The issue was confusion over the drop down menu on the new header. James The new site header - feedback? Thanks for the feedback so far, it will become a permanent change in about 7-10 days. [quote=Photomachine]Better, but it's not making full width, not on my iPad anyway...[/quote=9] Ok thanks for that, I will Why are details so hard to get out of togs?Hi Alyce, I would certainly advise that you shouldn't send any photos until such time you've: 1) Confirmed their references 2) Confirmed for yourself that they're working for the magazine or company they say they're Camera not 'catching' flashHi Simon, Whats your shutter speed? If your shutter is too fast, then you'll miss the flash. As for triggers, I've always used these things: bit.ly/zq7MHs - I've probably had Why are details so hard to get out of togs?Hi Alyce, You've always had quite an extensive portfolio on here, often with a wide range of styles, so I can see almost no genuine reason for anyone to request yet more photos from you before deciding Alerts/Time LineAnd, done! You can find the Updates options panel just below the "Your saved member updates" on your control panel. You can select how far back you want the updates to go, and of CrashingUpdate: this issue was taken to PM and believed to be because Dave J was uploading large photo files in Internet Explorer, and has hopefully now been resolved. Alerts/Time LineHi Matt, The data is limited in time, to the past year, before its archived and not displayed. Taking on board your suggestion, I think the best way to do it would be to Only model related imagesBecause of this rule here: "Newcomer" photographers are limited to 2 non-modeling photos, unless you have any modeling photos uploaded, at which point non-modeling photos must be removed. Regards, James AlbumsHi, Albums are the new way to save and organise photos on MadcowModels. Save your favourite photos, photos for inspiration at a later date or those that you'd just like to refer back to. For Dropbox link to upload picsOops that was my error, that link you posted is perfectly valid. I've just updated the code, tested it using that link, and it worked perfectly. James Dropbox link to upload picsHi, Is it a HTTPS link? as you must generate a "public" link when uploading from DropBox, as any other folder is password/user protected and thus the system wouldn't be granted access. James Dropbox link to upload picsAnd done! :) You can now upload by either "browsing" to an image on your computer/laptop, or enter a URL for the image. I've tested it, including uploading images from my DropBox account, but any issues please Dropbox link to upload picsNo problem, I'm looking at a way to add an "upload via URL" solution. I'll update this thread when its been done. James How do you delete messages??Hi, Go to the conversation you wish to delete, and then hover over the message you wish to delete. A "[x]" will appear after half a second and you'll be able to delete that message. Share your websiteSolution is simple, only those who are TopMembers or Premium members can post their website addresses on this thread. Any free members posts will be deleted. The "no urls" for free members is a site wide rule/enforcement, Wannabees.....GRRR!![quote=Bluephin]also I find that MC search as with many sites searchs dont really work the way they should I can search for models by Region, by Location , Postcode with in 25 mils of me and come up with nothing Email addresses in messagesHi Poppy, Indeed, free members cannot see emails/urls in messages unless one of the 2 people in the conversation is a paid member. It's not a new feature, its been around for about a Wannabees.....GRRR!!I wouldn't consider deleting profiles because they're inactive for a certain amount of time - but I would consider making them "inactive", so they don't appear in listings until they become active again. A higher level of Wannabees.....GRRR!![quote=ojmason][/quote=6] That can be done relatively easily, so I'll add that to the search engine for TopMembers in the next week or so. James Jumpy site ?Hi Paul, The front page redesign/layout shake up didn't require anything in the main structure of the site to be changed. I'm not really sure what could be causing that, as we don't use DarkroomHi Steve, Firstly, my apologies - I intended to update this thread when I completed fixing the Darkroom, but I must have been sidetracked by something else. Thank you for the kind words, indeed Why are there so few male models?[quote=retrotog][/quote=4] No. Less than 14% of the photos on MadcowModels contain nudity. If photographers were in it for nudity, wouldn't that number be *significantly* higher? Of course it would. Its simply down to who modelling is Why are there so few female photographers?I think the amount of female photographers is on the rise, for example the large majority of my photography college class several years ago was female (Off the top of my head, 10 girls 5 guys). Female amateur PAY A PHOTOGRAPHER and get better images[quote=retrotog]Madcow MODELS where you will find 2 or 3 times the number of PHOTOGRAPHERS listed than models! [/quote=26] The models outweigh photographers 2:1 at the moment. I'm going to lock this. Although the original post was Home pageHi Steve, It has been updated yes. The previous one was a bit of a mess, with the purple banners often no being the same width due to the changing width of the content, and a lot Feedback notificationOk I'll check that out. With message emails, you'll only receive them if you've not been active for 5:01 minutes or longer. So there may be a small window where you may miss it (We don't take Feedback notificationHi, You should already receive email notifications when feedback is added to your profile, but I'll also look into adding a notification on your control panel too. James Model details providedJust to update.. I've built the bit for models to enter the info on their "Update profile" page. in a few days or so, once some data has been collected, I'll add it to profiles. So...On the search engine, you can search via radius of a postcode. I chucked in 25 miles of AB11, which is (apparently?) Aberdeen city centre: bit.ly/xBcMTr (Search results on MadcowModels) Innovative idea, how to market?Having read your casting posted earlier today, I think you need to go into a bit more detail about the videos and what the videos will contain. For example, is this the sort of thing you're looking to produce? No 2012 feed back facilityHi, That's been fixed. Please also put site error/query threads in the site related forum in future. James DarkroomHi, The site resizes large photos to 800px on the longest side, and so this is the preferred size. Indeed the darkroom has a habit of stretching landscape photos to excess. The portrait ones are normally fine. New Year's resolution [quote=Chippguy] I'm moving house quite soon (another expensive hobby!)[/quote=3] Wait.. someone actually *enjoys* moving..? :p haha. Good to hear you're enjoying your photography though. New Year's resolution Hi Shelly, 2011 was pretty good for me, both personally and professionally. MadcowModels has grown a huge amount in the past year, surpassing the target I had set for it at the beginning by a considerable amount. Favourite apps?A MadcowModels app? Not at this stage.. but a mobile version of the site is definitely on the cards ;) James Favourite apps?[quote=sunnywigan]Hipstamatic and Instagram on the iPhone[/quote=3] Is it weird that I would actually consider getting an iPhone purely for that/those apps? The closest thing we get on BlackBerry is "pixtrix" which isn't as great - but I think its Last Online[quote=Chippguy]like to see 'Last Online' dates on search results[/quote=1] Done [quote=Chippguy]Also on 'Members you may be interested in' and 'Member near you!', but it would be better to not show models who haven't been online for Last OnlineHi Paul, I'll look into adding the "Last online" dates to the search/members listings and updating the Members near you/interested in sections shortly. James Merry xmasHave a good one, guys and girls. Enjoy whatever it is you get up to over the holidays, and I look forward to seeing everyone around the site in 2012 and onwards. James Man with a cameraHi, There are several "report" links on the messaging pages, there is also the "Contact us" page which is linked at the top of every page, you can also contact me direct. Regards, What makes a stunning photoI pretty much echo what Woolfe said. Both photography and personal taste are such wide "topics" that it'd be impossible to quantify exactly what makes a stunning photo, 2012My plans for 2012.. hopefully do a bit more photography as I've barely shot a single frame all year! and of course continue with the development and growth of MadcowModels too. Some interesting and useful new features in development HEY I'TS MEHi, I've copied over the BBCode support from the forums to the profiles "About me" section, so profiles can now support youtube videos, using the same formatting as the forums (wrap in [youtube ][/youtube ] tags - BlogSiteCool blog, Zenith. The latest post, "Sometimes its so worth it" is a really good post - comments like that make everything worthwhile, and its great that you know exactly what you want from your modeling. What are you currently listening to?[quote=PGPhotographic][/quote=6] Great song, really enjoyed that.. and ok, you got me.. I wanted to implement Youtube ages ago, but doing so could've opened the forums up to certain vulnerabilities. The new embedding method they use closes these. Avatar?Hi Aurora, Apologies for taking a few days to reply, I missed this thread for some reason. If you change your profile photo, the actual photo on your profile will change instantly. Cant leave feedbackHi Dave, The feedback has been left. Thats an error message from the mailer handler that sends the email to the receiver to notify them they have an email. Regards, James This video gets better the more it goes on[quote=Nixie] a few Darwin awards given out there I think[/quote=2] Hahah I think so too! Some of that looked painful, potentially deadly, but some hilarious ones too. I think I was probably most amazed by New Hourly Rate Section[quote=adrianbul1][/quote=12] Hi, New models cannot add rates. A profile has to meet a certain criteria before the option is enabled. Members cannot set their rates if: They're a newcomer They're a TO WHO IT CONCERNS!!The person who reported your images is not a member of MadcowModels. They emailed me about it, I saw they were from the watch company and that the person who reported it hadn't bothered to research the RJ name, so New Hourly Rate Section[quote=Naomi Elizabeth][/quote=8] I see you've managed to get it to work now. Sometimes the "Update Profile" page will cache in your browser and takes a bit of time to update, which could've been what was causing it. New Hourly Rate SectionHi Naomi, Its because your work type is set to "Depends on the assignment" Members cannot set their rates if: They're a newcomer They're a novice They only accept TFP work EMPTY PORTFOLIOSHi Adrian, I'm currently working on a "Help Centre", I'm aiming to make it quite comprehensive with help not only about the site and using the site, but also about various aspects of modeling and photography, and EMPTY PORTFOLIOSThe approval criteria was updated a few days ago, meaning that new accounts will not be approved unless they have a selection of photos online. The policy for who can list themselves as professional/semi-pro/experienced/very experienced will be New Hourly Rate SectionThat's what the new hourly rate section is aiming to tackle. A lot of models/members have rates that are realistically far too high so by making rates publicly viewable members will see each others and hopefully realise Is that allowed/legal?Hi, Lingerie should not be showing for anyone under the age of 18. I will look into it, and make sure it doesn't happen again in future. Thank you for pointing this out, Just added oneI like the shot, I saw it the other day when you uploaded it. Good use of shadows, and I like the slight tint that the photo has. Only suggestion would be, might have Is this an error?Hi Dawn, When a member uploads a new photo, the front page will not only display the photo they've just uploaded but also any other photos they've uploaded within the past 24 hours. So, Why pretend to be a model.....Once again, thank you for the kind words. As per PerfectPink's request, this thread is now locked. Thank you for some of the great suggestions, I'll be working on the RR over the next Editing post..Not sure where that member got that text from, as it doesn't look like something I've written. Nonetheless, as I said in my message to you earlier, I've rebuilt the "edit post" function. To Why pretend to be a model.....[quote=MrsC]I guess whatever you do will not be right, members want a true idea or what members are like but owners of sites don't like to delete members not unless they break site rules because they have more members on ??Hi, Go to "Your control panel" -> Photo Manager -> Click the photo you'd like to delete -> it will appear in a white box, at the top of the box click the "Delete Why pretend to be a model.....No, the system only counts messages that are read, the thinking being that you can't reply to a message you haven't read. James Why pretend to be a model.....Hi, I dislike the idea of removing members due to a low response rate, but what I may look to do in the future is "reward" those with a response rate higher than 85 or 90%. What Is It About Scotland[quote=PGPhotographic][/quote=8] [quote=Nixie][/quote=12] Yep, both PGPhotographic and Nixie nail it as to why we have a large following from Scotland. We initially had a large amount of Scottish models, and thus it was easy for the site Curiosity - Most Viewed Today PicturesHi, I assume you mean on the front page? Its quite simple - it displays the photos that have had the most "absolute unique" views on that day. An absolute unique view is Louise's......... Models . Why so many ?We have 65 members on MadcowModels with the name "Louise" anywhere in their name or username. So that's about 2.4% of the members on the site. That does indeed seem quite high! It'd be interesting to know what is SmileApologies, not sure how I missed this thread. I will definitely look into adding a few "simple" smileys soon, nothing over the top though as I find "animated/moving" smileys tend to make a forum look amateurish. Dating of forum repliesHi Steve, When I redesigned/de-cluttered the thread pages a few weeks ago, I decided to get rid of the dates of last reply.. but if the dates are missed then I'll look into adding them back later Vital statisticsCerity, We'll look into a way of encouraging or requiring details to be filled in more fully than they are now. Probably through using the popup box that appears on your Control Panel if there's a new Vital statisticsNixie - I've sorted that out, and it now displays on your profile. Do you think weight is a requirement? If you feel it'd be useful - then we can add the field for it. Any comments on my port? :)Hi Tiina, I think your portfolio has developed quite well, and grown significantly. Your "fashion" section is probably my favourite, especially some of the newer ones like your profile photo. You suit the wacky/out-there Una Healy and other celebs.... :)Great shots, the one of Una is my favourite. How did you manage that then? Did you score a press pass for The Inbetweeners premier? James Togs don't like chaperones...?I welcome the idea of a chaperone, especially if its going to make a model feel more comfortable. The only issue I do have is when the chaperone acts unprofessionally/inappropriately or doesn't know their place. I've had Dark room imagesHi, The darkroom uses an upsizing script to fit the image to screen, so some can appear stretched. The images are not permanently upsized though. I'll look into the issue of the images being Every been told to move away, get off, etc..Yeah a few times. I got quite into "Urbex" photography last year with a few mates, and as you'd expect with that sort of thing, we got stopped by security/land owners on a few occasions. I got some of Deleting messages?Hi, Next to the text of each message is " [x] ". Click that, and a popup will ask you if you want to delete that message. Click "Ok", and it will disappear. Your opinions on my portfolio!Hi Emi, You've got some great shots, particularly those with the sunflower headband on, which are my favourite. You've chosen well for your profile photo too, that's probably your best photo currently. I also 5 messages for todayYep, as jacklondon said, free members are limited to 5 conversations per day (You can message 5 different members as many times as you like per day). Anyone having probs messaging?Ok, we'll look into it and see if theres anything that could be tripping it up. Its a little strange, as the forum posting and messaging use the same structure, and I'm assuming you're able to post What Do You Give On Tfp ShootsSimilar to PaulGood, I give about 10 edited full res images + websize versions. I also give a CD of all of the images taken on the day (minus the blinkers/fail shots), as it gives the Anyone having probs messaging?Hi Cerity, Try going to any messaging page, and press "control f5". Give the page a few moments to reload all the data, and messaging should then work fine. Regards, James What to do?A photographer without an editing backlog? That's almost unheard of! :P I like the idea of going for a drive with the camera, I've done that a few times and as a result, spent alternate Sundays for Spooky Goings OnI'm one of those "I sort of do, sort of don't believe in them" type people. Theres one experience that sticks out in my mind, I was sat in my office at home and it was the middle of the New Search problems ?Hi Tom, I've fixed the issue with the page changing. I've also tested the postcode search and that appears to be working. There are a percentage of members who do not have a postcode New model looking for workHi Loren, You should've known that, as you emailed us when you signed up and asked about the limitations to being under 18, we replied detailing what you can and can't do, and you acknowledged our reply. Nikon tethered shooting[quote=classicglamour][/quote=1] Cool, that looks pretty good - definitely a cheap alternative to nikon Camera Control. I've used the Nikon Tethering software for every shoot I've done, though I found it to be a bit slow at StatisticsHi Digiman, Sure, we already have that feature - but its a paid member benefit ( www.madcowmodels.co.uk/upgrade ) On each profile you should see "Message Response Rate: Upgrade!", once upgraded, Photo theft.Hi Alyce, Its not something limited to models, I know several people on Facebook who have had all of their images stolen and made into a fake profile - and not just girls either. A Guide To Posing Models And PhotographersGreat link, very useful for new models. One thing that's worth noting, is that the next pose is only a tiny bit different from the one before.. and that's the trick to being a good model, making tiny changes in HDR PhotographyHi Ollie, I had a bit of a play with HDR a few years ago and quite enjoyed the challenge of it. The photos look great when its done well, and used appropriately - Back linksHi Mike, The ability to display URLS/links to other websites is a paid member benefit. If you're a paid member, you can display links on your profile (there's a specific section for this on New web siteIts a great looking website, clean design.. just a couple things: 1)Any chance being able to make the white boxes on the front page clickable? The whole box, not just the "read more" link. 2)On your MASSIVE thank you!Ah, the power of having professional photos done! Now, convert those offers into shoots.. and I look forward to seeing you progress and grow your portfolio! James Anyone having probs messaging?I've responded to Fabiano via email. Log in/out issues are normally a user side issue, and is normally fixed by the member clearing their browser cookies, or clicking the "Keep me logged in" tick box when logging Flakey models?I suppose the only up side is that you weren't sat in a studio with a no-show and the time you've paid for ticking away - which has happened to me more times than I care to remember! Home StudioThats a good idea, Fabiano, I hadn't thought of that. Going down the strobist route is probably the best option, it gives you lots of flexibility and is probably the most cost effective way. Some members Crack me up. This thread was moved to "Site Related" as its more about site policy now. Also for the record, Jody decided to delete her account at 15:32 today. Its a shame as debate about site Anyone know of A Google search brought up loads of different people named the Catwalk Professor. Do you have a link to a profile, or a website about them? How long have you been a MUD? James Using photographersThe benefits for using as many different photographers as possible outweigh the benefits of using only one. As PGPhotographic above said, models often develop a lot quicker Blocking a memberNo problem, I'll also get instructions for members future reference added to the FAQ shortly. James Blocking a memberScroll to the bottom of the members profile, and at the bottom right of each members profile is a "Block member" link. This will then prevent that member from being able to message you and view your Bogus ProfilesThere are postives and negatives to running a name and shame thread, and largely - I'm not in favour of it. There have been times when we've had members reported to us for being a time-waster, and Re-arranging ImagesApologies for not replying sooner, not sure how I managed to miss this. At the moment there is not a way for the images to re-arranged. Its something I've looked at several times, and its definitely Hello!Hi Paul, Somehow a duplicate thread was added, but I've sorted that for you. Welcome to the site! Good looking port, I noticed you've worked with another member on the site New models in UK[quote=JoeQuinnPhoto]Great work so far James.. Its all a numbers game and the way this site is run I am sure it will be up there before long! :) [/quote=4] Thanks for the kind words, it still amazes New models in UK[quote=cerity][/quote=5] Hi Cerity, Sure, well firstly its aimed at everyone. It allows Free members to trial TopMembership. It allows Premium members to trial TopMembership, as there are a New models in UKMaybe I can shed some light. MadcowModels was originally quite heavily advertised on the "Gumtree" website - before they got quite strict on what gets advertised and largely preventing companies from advertising. From these Happy EasterCheck out Thorntons too, they normally slash the price of their easter stuff straight after.. James New on here!!Hey Katie, Welcome to the site. Good port, some good images there, though it would be good to see some shots added of other styles of modeling you do such as the fashion work. Hello! new to madcow![quote=Jaci Leet]I think it's very important to advise new comers very clearly and not fill their heads with dreams you know really can never become reality...... [/quote=5] We do try our best to inform them, hence the New to madcow,Portfolio feedback Please!Hey Roxy, You have a great portfolio uploaded at the moment.
