I have just done a model search for a possible shoot I have coming up and I did a nationwide search on here for models.

I gave up after two pages of results which showed me 40 models. Here are the facts about the response rates of these Wannabees:

20 models (50%) 0% Response rate

8 Models (20%) less than 25% response rate

3 models ( 8%) 26% - 50% response rate

8 models (20%) 51% - 65% response rate

1 model (2%) 90+% response rate

What is the point of being on here if you can't be bothered? You just waste everyone's time and James goodwill in setting up an excellent site.

All members should get off their A*ses, and if you have a low or zero response rate either reply to your messages, or delete your accounts. That way the serious amongst us can get on with doing what we love, knowing the other members feel the same way.

Yes, even a polite 'Thanks but no thanks' reply would do. I messaged one model, quite near me, about a shoot. The message was read but no reply. Her response rate is still 0%, so I guess I'm not the only one being ignored.

I got a follow up yesterday from a model (who will remain nameless) that originally made an enquiry about one of my castings last June. The info bit in the mail box said 'read 32 weeks' ago. Anyone want to have a guess at my response?

I wanted to bring this up before, but though if I did Models would not reply even less than now, but couldn't agree mre, its just manners at the end of the day!

Would it make sense to add a filter to the search where you can specify you only want models with a response rate of x%?

Probably too complicated OJ. An easier system would be fore all of those with a 0% response rate be removed after 3 months. If they are serious they can always rejoin.

That can be done relatively easily, so I'll add that to the search engine for TopMembers in the next week or so.

I couldn't agree more. It's so frustrating knowing your reply to an initial enquiry has been read and then ignored. As already said a polite reply of yes or no is all it takes.

It's not just models though, there are photographers on here as well with low reply rates or who don't login for months.

Whilst I totally understand the point of view of the initial post , I have to say that there are a number of togs on here that can also be accused of the same crime.

I agree with your point that some don't even bother, however, I do agree with the comment above (Silkythighslou), as I myself have a 100% response rate.
I also do agree with Perfectpink, if they aren't serious and don't replay, they could possibly be removed. Then again, some people don't come on every week.

I too think it is unacceptable for anyone (Model, Photographer, MUA....whoever) to have anything less that at least 50-60% response rate.
Also what about members who have not visited the site for months... the number of members i have come across in searches indicate that they last logged on over 30 days ago.
OK.. maybe 30 days is a little short for closing their account, but what about 3 or 6 months, or maybe a year.
Surely, if they haven't been on here for a year, they are unlikely to be back.... or at least, not taking the site and community seriously.

I wouldn't consider deleting profiles because they're inactive for a certain amount of time - but I would consider making them "inactive", so they don't appear in listings until they become active again.

A higher level of importance will soon be placed on the Response Rate, and those with a very low response rate will feel the effects of having a low one, and those who have a higher RR and a higher level of interaction with the site will reap the benefits. I'll go into more detail in a week or 2 once it starts to get rolled out

I reply to all of my messages within about 6 hours or so of getting them. I'm current;y starting to get paid work and I'm one of those models who are trying to get to the top of their game. I agree with your post, if you can't be bothered then don't go on this site, simple!

Thanks for your input Stephanie, I am sure you are excellent in your approach. I hope that you are very careful in what you are doing - as a seasoned professional I regard a 14 year old being paid £50 an hour for swimwear having been "dropped off" highly disturbing.

My mum is always with me at shoots, my grandma drops me and my mum off however sometimes stays with me and my mum. If you notice it does say that I always have a chaperone.

So whats new ,such is life that these things happen everywhere
and in more forms than just on Modelling sites and I don't see anything changing soon,
people are people and things happen in life to throw spanners in the works .

One of the reasons I began using this site was it's difference to others and it's clean interface.
Maybe it was a bit too much to hope for wanting to dodge posts berating models lack of replies ,no shows ,wanting payment, under 18s,chaperones etc etc etc .and I'm fairly sure others are here for the same reason .
James ,if it's not broken leave it alone or maybe a friendly mail to the long lost souls, ( Models and Photographers ) informing them of the great improvements you've made to the site and the increased traffic here.

@ SilkythighsLou .. trust you to invent a new crime ..

It's not new Paul , just that the emphasis is directed towards the model in most cases. Needs a strong person to stand up for the models every now and again .

Please don't get me wrong, there are photographers that are just as bad, or worse, in many ways. It's just that wannabee photographers probably respond to too much in some ways. There are some particularly interesting things I see where a model has some really fantastic fashion type pics, and maybe one god awful lingerie pic, and yet a lot of togs suddenly rate the lingerie pic as WOW or FANTASTIC, just because the girl has little on. I do not blame models in general, just those individuals who don't treat the site, James and other users with any form of respect.

How did we get from model response rates to bashing wannabee photographers? Starting to sound a little elitist. We all have different tastes and what appeals to one will not appeal to another. It's like saying classical music is better than rock.

This is a situation where a good administrator/moderator should really pay dividends. The situation described by Perfectpink is the same on all of the portfolio sites which all seem to contain a significant pile of 'deadwood' - people who open a profile and then don't login for ages, miss messages or not respond. I did a similar check on Purestorm for my County and found that 75% of models had not logged in for more than two years - why don't the administrators delete them?

Thread ended I would guess. It's a perennial problem with no easy answer. Well done to all the good people, and as for the rest? Enough said.

I think the best way to search is using the activity on the front page of the site,
not just what models are up to but if you see a model pc that a photographer has uploaded them talk to them or trace the Taged model least you know they are working and not just page hogin.

also I find that MC search as with many sites searchs dont really work the way they should I can search for models by Region, by Location , Postcode with in 25 mils of me and come up with nothing search for models 200 miles away from me and find a list that clearly shows models from my home town.... :S

having a bad message rating dose not mean that you dont always reply also getting a message from someone dont mean you have to reply yes its nice! if they do but meh if they dont its there loss as they are the ones making a bad name for themselfs as word tends to get around.

and nothing is better than a load of messages between model and photographer and then to set a date and then last min they change it to a nother date and then when that date comes and they want to change it again! lol

I think it comes down to business etiquette, and agree that it is rude not to answer a message - I treat everything I do on here the same as in business, and respecting the fact that someone has taken the time to send you a message is part of that. Also keeping appointments, it may be an informal contract to meet for a shoot, but it is both parties' time, and again that should be respected

On the whole most of the models here have been pretty good at responding to my messages, even if its a simple one line reply. That said though there are a few who put up castings and never respond (still got no reply from one back in November). I totally agree with the fact that it is pretty rude not to answer a message, even with a simple I will get back to you when I can, though sadly not everyone is as keen or motivated as their profiles make them out to be.

Hi Bluephin,

Could you PM me some example link/searches?
