I think the amount of female photographers is on the rise, for example the large majority of my photography college class several years ago was female (Off the top of my head, 10 girls 5 guys). Female amateur photographers probably have a larger group of female friends that they use as models initially - especially because of Facebook. I wouldn't be surprised if over this year more and more of them trend towards using sites such as this, once they've exhausted their network of friends and contacts.
I agree with James, the agency iam with have a Female photographer and she is excellent. She did Diploma in Uni in Photography and Art then came to Legacy as an apprentice she now has her own line she does.
All of the female photographers i know do not use sites like these. If they see someone they think will make a good subject they will just approach them and introduce themselves. I have learnt so much from female photographers.
Most of the female photographers that I know, tend to work predominantly with Mothers and toddlers, Bump and wedding. and are very good at what they do.
The few that I have met and worked with are, can I be sexist here?, far better than the majority of male photographers I have had experience of. Doesn't explain why there are, or appear to be, so few though.
I fall behind the camera half the time too - but oddly enough, I end up being better photographing males than females!! I'm no professional, still learning, but not half bad, even if I do say so myself
An excellent shotZenith. well exposed and composed and I applaud your contemporary use of an angular shot, I think it's called a 'Dutch' in film jargon.
Lol - I can't line things up and shoot straight when I try, so I gave up entirely!! I figured if my images were going to look askew, I may as well make it look as if it was intentional
