Why are there so few male models on this site, on any site?
Shyness?
Poor physique?
Pressure by peers/mates, 'it's effeminate'.

I think my model profile is still live so did you include me? Although I'm not sure what genre I fit in - maybe advertising bran products

On a serious note though I've noticed that too. I've a shoot booked this coming weekend where we need an early-twenties something male model but are strangely struggling to find one to pose opposite a beautiful young woman for romantic scenes. The poor girl is trawling sites and asking friends for help but so far coming up empty handed.

I might not be a spring chicken any longer----but i have been a life and photographic model for over 7 years....
i have worked with many togs and several models.
to many guys have a hang up on being nude and people looking at their bits....
new male models say they will do nude modelling----
but they are to shy to put up images of them nude-

Dare I suggest that most photographers on this and some other sinmilar sites are MALE and want to only see naked and semi naked women? Surely not? There can be a similar if more rugged beauty in the nude, semi nude male form. But young, strong, athletic males with a good physique, good hair, skin, nails and a friendly, creative attitude, are, like gold dust to find.
If you know one please contact me.

No.

Less than 14% of the photos on MadcowModels contain nudity. If photographers were in it for nudity, wouldn't that number be *significantly* higher? Of course it would. Its simply down to who modelling is targetted at, and shows such as the "next top model" series feature female models only. Magazines feature a lot more female models than male models, most media probably does, and so the whole modelling world is thrust in front of females a lot more than males, therefore its a lot more natural for females to want to try modelling than it is for males.

I find it difficult even to find males willing to be photographed in any way at all.
'What do you want to take a picture of me for?' being the usual response.
My best results have been 'candids' of traction engine drivers, ploughing matches, steam engine firemen and drivers and horseriders, old men just sitting waiting for a train from the opposite platform, and of course actors/entertainers who know the value of good images.

I mainly do life modelling, although I would like to do more photographic work. It seems to me that the majority of photographers out there prefer working with women.

Model Mayhem seems to have more UK male models than other similar sites.

The two guys i know who have done some modelling don't seem to use these modelling sites. They just use one photographer and wait to be called upon for work. To be fair to them - its just a hobby so they wouldn't necessarily want to promote themselves, but equally they seem a bit embarrassed about it...and don't want their 'mates' to know about it. Perhaps its a culture thing?
