I finally got around to buying some soft box lighting (Cost £85) and boy god they are some bright things! I think i might only just need one instead of the two i have.

But as ive never done a shoot with lighting im kinda worried and need some advice on what's the best thing to do with them? I also have a shoot tomorrow which ill be testing them out.

I plan to try different angels with the lighting to see if i can get different lighting.

Any advice welcome.

I can highly recommend going on one of Steve Cheshire lighting workshops. I travelled about 3 hours for it but well worth the journey. Best value out there at £60 for 6 hours tuition working with Steve and the wonderful Mrs C

As the others have said also a lighting workshop is a really good way to pick things up

But id also say grab someone even if it a family member a friend or even your self set the lights up and Play around sometimes the best way to learn about lighting is to just jump in and give it a go after all you can be told 100 times whats good from someone else but what you really want is to know whats good for you and your artistic lighting needs.

good luck

Get your self a flash lightmeter as well.................you've got to measure and control those lights..........but as above look on youtube...BUT they often miss out some IMPORTANT bits! I went with the Royal Photographic Society for a two day course...brilliant once you understand the rules of studio lighting you can break them and get wonderful unique results. Keep playing with them over and over again

Thats such a wide open question. What do you want to photograph? and how do you want it to look?

also as an end note, I often use anywhere between 1 - 4 softboxes on a shoot.
