Am sorely tempted by the Canon (or Sigma for that matter) 10-22 lens

Anyone got any experience of these ?

What body will it be going on? As its an EF-S series lens it won't work on a full frame body but otherwise a cracking lens but if you mainly shoot 'people' you might find it limiting.

I've just bought a Canon 17mm-40mm L series lens, it's awesome. At f8 it's so sharp you can cut yourself

I have a 17mm pancake but i never use it for fashion photography 18 to 135 is my main lens but for sharp images a 50mm fixed focal length Prime lense.

I have the 14mm 2.8 and it's an amazing lens but really really hard work( at least for me) to produce satisfying results. When they come they are extraordinary but it's another damned lens to carry around looking for a rare opportunity to come along. I got this lens specifically to replace the 10-22 that you are thinking of. The problem with the 10-22 is that it's ef-s so not upgradable if you go full frame at a later date and to me the amazing wide angle(ness) of it was kinda denied by the crop sensor. So I wasn't satisfied with it and eventually sold it. My advice would be to try one out first as its such a particular lens.

Oh and one other thing I found - when you want a wide angle lens you really only value the extremely wide end as that is where you get the amazing distortion/ exaggerated depth of field contrast etc. hence the idea of having a zoom 10-22 didn't really get used on my camera! I would value as wide a prime as you can find.

I agree with creativeeye as 10-22 would be more at home with landscape photography, well that's what I use and for that I get excellent results. For portraits, fashion i use either my 50mm prime or my 18-135mm.
