I have been searching on Madcows and looking at loads of Model ports for up comming work but...how come all the models i picked out from looks are in Scotland????? there is no doubt about it Scotland has some beautiful models..closely followed by the Liverpool area..oh im so far from those Scottish borders........

Yes I've noticed that myself Fab. Just got to talk my wife into going on holiday to Scotland as opposed to warmer climes. Not holding my breath though.

Well Im a newbie, and have contacted some stunning scottish girls, so I will be in touch at a leter date to say whether or not they reply and are as good as they appear on here! Hopefully some will appear on ayrshiremedia dot com thing at a later date, had even thought on putting up model portfolio's on there as well.

I think the size of the Scottish contingent originally was probably due to how the original advertising for the site was done ie. advertising on Gumtree. Whether more adverts were placed in certain areas or whether it is just more Scots use Gumtree I'm not sure but after the initial influx I think it was a certain amount of word of mouth ie. "there is this portfolio site that is may be worth joining as it seems to have a large percentage of Scots". Don't know if it is still as biased as I have seen a large number of southern members joining that I recognise from other sites that I wouldn't be surprised if it was now a more expected ratio as those active on the forums represent such a tiny percentage of those that are actually members.

I am also a member of other model sites and have seen people talking about madcow models and have noticed a few of them joining up here which has got to be good for the site in general..does anyone actually use Gumtree for finding models these days???? a lot of what i see on there is not the levels i do and some of the prices they quote make me laugh you could hire the cast of britains next top model with some of the prices they ask..if only they was a bit more realistic in their aims and prices they might get a bit more work.

I tried a casting on Gumtree a while ago (which was how I found this site), basically all I got was a lot of wannabes that dissapeared and blokes pretending to be hot women with pictures they copied from facebook. I'd write a book about some of the stuff I got sent but no-one would believe me!

Adding to what PGPhotographic said (which is completely accurate), I'm pretty sure I remember that when I joined the site a few years back (under the old ownership) it was just a place for models to host their profiles (I don't think there was an option for photographers and MUAs to join) and the site just listed available shoots they were aware of that we could put ourselves forward for (almost like an agency but not quite). No forums or anythings, just lists of available work.

So that would add to why there are a lot of models on the site from Scotland - we were the only ones who could join when it was being advertised heavily here in Scotland at the time.

I much prefer how James runs it now though, as the old system never really worked for me. I think in time the numbers will probably balance out a bit more as more people join the site. I find it's a more upbeat site than the alternatives (I've spoken to several others that feel that way too) and I get work from it so I always encourage my friends to join (oops, there's me tipping the Scottish balance again...).

Yep, both PGPhotographic and Nixie nail it as to why we have a large following from Scotland. We initially had a large amount of Scottish models, and thus it was easy for the site to attract Scottish photographers when it was opened up to photographers several years ago.
The site has been growing a lot down south especially in the last 6 months. As more people join, they recommend it (hopefully! :P) to their friends, who then join, who then recommend it to theirs etc etc..

Hmm perhaps we the southern togs, should find a set of studios close together and then send a coach up to Scotland for the models one week / weekend next year, then we can tour the studios and capture all the nice models

I stay in middle of glasgow and edinburgh closer to edinburgh unfortunitly most the shoots are for london or the borders of scotland

Just wanted to give you an update as I have recently worked with prettyme, who is a model here on MCM, on a studio based shoot in Glasgow.
She was on time, great selection of outfits brought along, did exactly as I had asked on the day as well as before and had great communication.
I cannot recommend her highly enough for her professional manner, and she has the added bonus of having the most stunning eyes, as well as great legs for the shots required, and as you can see by my portfolio image, she is very flexible and willing to push herself to achieve the shots required.
I'll be working with her again!

Im a scottish model (Edinburgh) and i totally disagree! I cant seem to find very many local photographers on here! Seeing as i live in Edinburgh, i would expect to see quite a lot of local models and photographers in the search list but nope! Im not sure whether this is to do with the search engine or my account as not all models and photographers show up. Prettyme for example, you dont show up in my results.
Come to Edinburgh guys!
