I notice that some of the model profiles have no data for weight, or hip size, cup size, etc. Is it optional for this to be omitted or is it indicative or something to hide?

Sometimes I think it's an uncertainty thing - like does chest size mean underbust or overbust measurement, etc. Other times it's a website thing (I currently have my cup size selected but for some reason it doesn't appear on my profile). Weight doesn't seem to be an available option on this website, but weight is a difficult one anyway as everyone carries it so differently.

I guess in some cases, the best thing is just to go by the photos.

Nixie - I've sorted that out, and it now displays on your profile.

Do you think weight is a requirement? If you feel it'd be useful - then we can add the field for it.

As for incomplete profiles, as Nixie says I think some people are uncertain about correct measurements and on that basis they may think it better to provide nothing than something incorrect.

Profiles are not accepted/approve unless they meet a certain level of criteria (we have a checklist), and profiles being complete is one of those criteria.

I don't personally think weight is an important one to have in a portfolio, especially as the overall distribution of fat/muscle can alter someone's appearance to quite a degree. I think individual measurements are more accurate. Plus, if a photographer wants a model to wear specific clothing they're bringing to the shoot, individual measurements are much more important than overall weight to make sure the clothing will fit.

I know that the underbust/overbust confusion can be common - I usually assume "chest" means underbust and "bust" means overbust. The chest and cup measurements together should give an idea of the bust size, so a separate bust size isn't always needed. And with waist, a lot of people think your waist is lower down than it is, so the confusion can just make them give up.

Some websites will have a "how to measure yourself" section (or notes in the profile editing section) for models and photographers to refer too. I can't remember if you have one here or not James, but maybe that would help models feel more confident about measuring themselves?

Anyway, I think the measurements called for here are fine.

Indeed we do, another member submitted this when we launched the articles:
www.madcowmodels.co.uk/articles/Your-Measurements.html

But as you mention, it may well be worth us linking it to the "Update Profile" section.

Haha! I see I'm going to need to alter mine already as I'm going with the old two-tiered chest vs. bust measurements. Oh well, it'll just look like I've just had implants or something. :P

Thanks for the link though James - yeah, definitely adding that to the update profile section would be fab.

It seems not to be an important issue for photographers other than me.

Cerity,

We'll look into a way of encouraging or requiring details to be filled in more fully than they are now. Probably through using the popup box that appears on your Control Panel if there's a new field to fill in, or via a different "required action" method.

I prefer to go off a models portfolio. If the model has a look that I am looking for on that particular project then I'll use them.
