Recently found this website and thought i might share this with the members of Madcows..we all get stuck irrespective of if we are a photographer or a model on what type of pose you want..most newer models think all you have to do is pout at the camera and that makes them a model unfortunately this is not the case...i have worked with a lot of top flight models over the years and ive seen a model on set for four hours changing to a different pose every 10/15 seconds for that whole time...never seeing the same pose twice ..NOW thats posing lol..but anyways here you will find a few tips on posing so to all you models out there practise these or at least some of them and next time you do go on a shoot you can make it more enjoyable for both parties.

Arrrrgggghhhh!, not the hand behind the head?????

Apart from that, which is my pet hate, some good stuff there for new models.

Agreed about the hand behind the head, I do that one as a joke pose when I'm out with my friends now...

Great link, very useful for new models. One thing that's worth noting, is that the next pose is only a tiny bit different from the one before.. and that's the trick to being a good model, making tiny changes in a pose between each frame.

Alyce i do that pose everyday in the shower lol and angelannie i too have a confession its says im 60 on my profile but im really 22 or so my mind tells me but then my brain reminds me once im struggling to get up from a lying position that im really past my use by date ha ha ha ..James thats always the sign of a good model perhaps we should run a pose a day for the newer models starting out to try to help them along a little

Morning All, As helpful as ALL this information is lets not forget that most new starting out dont know how to pose naturally and all they need is a break. Also I'd like to put out especially being an amature myself that the best poses ever seen are the more natural ones, you know ones that dont actually look like your trying to poses as a MODEL !! Hand behind the head thing if you think about it was probably started by some SO CALLED PRO MODEL ANYWAY ...... to make a shoot fun and enjoy it should'nt be as structured and ridig as your making it sound, constant false convential pose after pose make a shoot extremely hard work, boring not to mention draining ..... @ Fab i recently saw a brief clip of Tina Kay during a recent shoot she did, pls try and find it and pose it on here if you can. New model can check that link out and see how a pro really does it well, she's fun, relax and enjoying it

the art of posing is to do it so it looks perfectly natural as though its a thing the body would do in its natural course of the day..most time i shoot without an agenda i hate having to name themes for a shoot i prefere to go along with the flow if its a theme you could end up getting stuck if it dont work out with a particular model all of my shoots are fun and relaxed ask anyone thats ever worked with me..as for Penthouse Pet Tina Kay she is a full professional and has had a lot of experience thats all she does for a job is modelling..incidently im shooting with her the end of August but if you can point me in the right direction of the video i will gladly post it

This one, ElleJai ?

Its quite a good video, definitely a good idea for new models to take a look at that.

Quoting fabiano from post 11

I've always thought of building something like an "education centre", so including guides like the one above about how to pose, videos like the one above showing a photoshoot in action so "newbies" know what to expect etc.. I guess it'd be a mash-up of the glossary, the articles, and a few other bits.
Thoughts?
