Sorry wasnt sure what forum to post this in.

Why do i get messages from said photographers, then when you go to reply to them they have gone. and nothing but there email address, have they been suspended, before they even start, or are they prob just chancing to get some model to work with them without a profile.

Any others had this

James

They're 'external' messages. I don't know how many sites do it but we allow non-members to send messages as well. The email address displayed is the email address they provided when sending a message, and is displayed for you to reply to them on.

They're not banned/suspended members - we definitely would never display a members email address or any other contact information like that.

Hi James,

Not that im against non members contacting me. But is it a wise thing to let what could be any old tom dick or harry message models,

From a saftey point of view these may not even be photographers or anyone within the modelling sector, and any young niave model may arrange a shoot with god knows who.

Saftey is parramount in this industry, i feel if photographers or said photographers want to message models they should sign up to become a member. I dont think any other modeling sites do that, And on certain modelling sites certain images are banned from public viewing unless your a member.

Thanks

Jo

Of course safety is paramount, and thats why it can be turned off in the "Options" panel. Simply untick the "Allow messages from non-members" and press "Update".

But on thate note, what also stops any old tom, dick or harry just grabbing an image off of google images, pretending to be a photographer, and arranging photoshoots on any modeling website? At some point there has to be a level of trust between the site, its browsers and members.

If a model, or any other member, is unsure about someone contacting them - then we have a "Report" button on the bottom of every single message, which comes straight through to us and we respond to all of them.

James

Thanks for the info.
I agree about stealing images. but normally when i agree to work with a photographer i will ask them to provide refrences of previous models they have worked with. and a link to there images that are on modelling sites. if they can not provide such things and are being Secretive. then its a big no no from me. And the Alarm bells would be ringing.

I also understand that there are new photographers out there, that dont have any refrences, But they must ahave a portfoilo of there work wether its models or landscapes.

And normally you can tell if images have been stolen as they do not look this same quality as the others they may have on there profile especially if they have stolen a few. lol

But thank you anyway for the info

James

Of course, thats just being sensible, and I would expect that most models would do that.
I can't imagine any model, be they newcomer or professional, would agree and turn up to do a photoshoot without asking for some form of references.

And just as a quick follow up, a notice has been put at the bottom of all external messages, instructing how to turn them off.

Regards,

James
